Our association

The School of Freudian Psychoanalysis is a nonprofit scientific association whose statutory purpose is to train psychoanalysts based on the tradition started by Sigmund Freud.

Our association was founded in 1983 by a group of psychoanalysts and intellectuals who shared the concern for restoring the rigor that distinguished Freudian psychoanalysis in its naturalist and rationalist foundations.

Over the years, we have organized and coordinated several conferences on central topics in psychoanalysis nationally and internationally. We also used to publish the journal “Thelema – psicanalisi e i suoi dintorni”.
After a break of almost fifteen years, during which – on purpose – we did not engage in scientific dissemination or collaborate with other psychoanalytic organizations, in order to focus on research and solid construction of ideas, the School has recently taken up again his cultural activities open to the public: specifically, with a series of conferences entitled “The return of Freud”, which took place in Padua (March-April 2016), Turin (March 2017), Pavia (March 2018) and Florence (March-April 2019).

Alongside these dissemination initiatives for the general public, we now publish our work biannually in the journal “Metapsychologica”.

Today, the School is present with its activities in various Italian cities, including Milan, Turin, Padua, Venice and Florence. The School is based in via Lentasio 7, Milan.
