Mission
The seminar held by the Scuola di Psicanalisi Freudiana, structured in a course of 18 lectures every two weeks, has the aim of expressing a theory of the psychoanalytical treatment in methapsychological terms. The seminar, which takes place according to the means of frontal lessons, has the intention of clarifying some of the ethical and gnoseological aspects related to the treatment that are usually overshadowed by not only the medical psychotherapies but more often in the post-freudian psychoanalysis as well, which has neutralized the treatment in the “setting” or has conceived it as a sterile debate.
The treatment is brightened up beginning with its purposes and the treatment purposes are essentially cognitive. Although through the cognitive process, which gives to the subject the chance of freeing oneself from the unconscious fixation of neurosis, take place a series of issues connected to the ethical sphere of the subject and its freedom area. Resistences, transfert, healing, the effect of truth are all aspects related to the treatment that require a theory of the freedom, of which the freudian methapsychology is enriched.
However, in a methapsychology of the psychoanalytical treatment we can find answers to individual issues, which nowadays happen to have a strong social impact, like the incapability of loving or the incapability of appreciation, typical of the neurotic condition; such issues in order to be organized require to give back to sexuality the value Freud has assigned in the human motivation, a cultural value giving that sexuality has produced culture since the very beginning of the humanity history.
These are some of the methapsychological aspects connected to the freudian concept of treatment, which is far from being an ideal or something that may lead the patient to idealization, rather than something that should help the subject to fully gain knowledge of its nature, in the best possible way. The theoretical structure of these topics allows the methapsychology to spread, making of it a sort of new dictionary and bringing the freudian psychoanalysis to the top for its contribution in the ethical field as well.

Expected Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to:
- Gather knowledge of the main gnoseological and ethical issues that occur from the psychoanalytical treatment and have a historical-critical perspective regarding these matters, with reference to the post-freudina authors that have often concealed such issues. (Level 1 and 2)
- Provide an articulation on the purposes of the psychoanalytical treatment: freedom and truth. (Level 1 and 2)
- Gain knowledge the development of the sexual freudian theory, to be understood in relation to a theory of meaning. (Level 1 and 2)
- Spot the pragmatics of truth in Freud and other post-freudin authors. (Level 2)
Teaching method
- Face to face lectures by our professors.
- Interventions of the students on specific topics, mainly of comparison with other authors.
Evaluation
Students are asked to write a paper throughout the course, which should be hand over at the end of the lectures, paper in which they show their acknowledgments from the seminar and that the teaching committee shall evaluate.
